The mother of a child who died in West Africa has told The Associated Press that she doesn’t know why her son died.
The Associated Press on Tuesday published a story about the family of Thomas Eric Duncan, who was admitted to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital on Dec. 6, saying the hospital did not follow standard protocols to care for the Ebola-stricken boy.
The story said the boy’s mother had no knowledge of what had happened to her son and that she had been unable to reach her son in time.
The mother’s lawyer has said she believes the boy was killed because of his Ebola-related medical conditions.
A nurse who cared for Duncan for weeks told the AP that the mother “wasnt in a position to know what happened to him and that it was a tragic accident.
She said her son wasnt contagious and there was no indication that he was infected.
The family also has told the Associated Press the mother is a “freeloader” who relies on public assistance to support her and their two children.
